Quincy Students Win MWRA Video, Writing and Poster Contests; Representative Tackey Chan Attends Awards Ceremony

Rep. Chan issues special citations to students for videos and essays about working in all kinds of weather

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is pleased to announce that six Quincy students have won MWRA’s annual video, writing and poster contests.

Theresa McMillen, Nichold Salvatore and Daniel Driscoll, students at Quincy High School, won First Place in the video contest for their video, “Rain or Shine.”

Caitin O’Regan, grade 7 at the Atlantic Middle School, won Second Place in the writing contest, and Kobe Khuong, grade 7 won Honorable Mention.

Vera Killorin, a kindergarten student at the Beechwood Knoll School, won Honorable Mention in the poster contest.

This year, students across the MWRA service area were challenged to create posters, essays and videos about how MWRA workers do their jobs in all kinds of weather. An awards ceremony was held on Friday, May 26 at the Deer Island Treatment Plant. State Representative Takey Chan attended the ceremony and presented the winners with special citations. All of the winning videos, posters and essays are on the MWRA website.
