Quincy Woman Charged With Assaulting Brockton Police Officer

When police asked the suspect to take a field sobriety test, they said she opened her car door, made a run for it and then attacked police.

BROCKTON, MA — A Quincy woman was arrested on Monday night after police said she ran away from a field sobriety test and tried to fight the officer who caught up to her.

Zarianna Pizarro, 18, was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace,driving without an inspection sticker

Around 11:30 p.m., Pizarro was pulled over on Prospect Street after police said she was speeding and driving erratically near Walnut and Prospect Streets.

"The officer could see in plain view two open containers of alcohol in the car," police spokesman Darren Duarte told Patch.

Officers asked Pizarro to step outside her car and take a field sobriety test, but when she opened her car door, police said Pizarro made a run for it. The police officer who caught up to her was attacked, Duarte said.

"She fought with the officer and refused verbal commands to stop fighting," Duarte said "She was subsequently placed under arrest."

Pizarro's arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday, but the results of the hearing have not yet been made available.
