Trial Begins In Death Of Quincy Man Trying To Break Up Fight
Brian Hingston, a father of three, hit his head during a fall and never regained consciousness.

QUINCY, MA – The trial of a Dorchester man facing manslaughter charges in the death of a Quincy father of three is set to begin Friday, according to WCVB. Bryan McElhinney, 23, is charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault and battery in the April 17, 2016 incident, during which 44-year-old Brian Hingston died.
Opening statements are scheduled for Friday.
According the findings of a Boston Police Department investigation, Hingston, McElhinney and others were celebrating a friend’s birthday in Boston the night of April 16 into the morning of April 17. The celebration devolved into a fistfight between two people in the group in the parking lot of the Greenhill Bakery. Neither Hingston nor McElhinney was initially involved in that fight, police say their investigation showed.

Then, McElhinney apparently joined in and struck another man.
"At this point, the evidence suggests, Hingston attempted to intervene and McElhinney struck him once in the face. Hingston fell to the ground, hit his head, and never regained consciousness," police said.
