QUINCY, MA — Sparks flew during a chase across Quincy Tuesday night which resulted in two arrests, police said.

Alfred Iannaco, 50, of Hull, was charged with possession of a Class B drug (subsequent offense), failure to stop for police, two counts of leaving the scene of property damage, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and defacing real or personal property. Kimberly Haskins, 38, Quincy, was charged with possession of a Class B drug (subsequent offense), knowingly resisting arrest, and being a disorderly person. She was also arrested on an outstanding warrant, according to the Quincy Police Department.

Officers conducting surveillance in West Quincy around 6 p.m. discovered what appeared to be a drug deal between the passenger of a red Chevy van and resident of a home on Water Street. The passenger of the van, identified as Haskins allegedly entered the home, stayed for a very short period of time, and exited. While waiting for the van to pick her up, detectives attempted to approach Haskins concerning their belief that a drug transaction had just occurred. Detectives were also aware that there was an outstanding warrant for Haskins' arrest.

As detectives approached Haskins, the van pulled up just down the street from her location and she turned, visually acknowledged the detectives, and began running to the van. She was able to flee inside the van before detectives could approach her, police said.

The operator of the van, identified as Iannaco, drove around the detective's vehicle onto the wrong side of the road while fleeing at a high rate of speed. As officers chased the van with their emergency lights on, Iannanco refused to stop and allegedly hit a van on Copeland Street. He also appeared to have a flat tire and the vehicle began to emit large amounts of smoke and sparks from the wheel well.

Iannaco then veered left up the wrong way of the one-way section of West Street, across Centre Street and back onto West Street, making it too dangerous for police to pursuit.

The vehicle headed towards Braintree, entered Interstate 93 North, exited onto Granite Avenue in Quincy, and was located by State Police on Minot Street in Dorchester.

Both suspects were taken into custody and are due in Quincy District Court Wednesday.
