• 💡 RMLD Board of Commissioners 9-15-26 AI Recap (readingrecap.com) — Reading Municipal Light Department's latest meeting in Reading approved a new AI-use policy, major line-work and truck contracts, and a customer service hours pilot starting October 12 that shortens evening phone availability. Commissioners reviewed progress on Station 6, advanced meter installations that are nearly complete in Reading, and capital pressures from transformers and cable trailers. They also delayed a key decision on renewable energy certificate use until November after a cost-of-service study is finished.
• Partnering for Dignity: Donate to the Little Essentials Library Today (thereadingpost.com) — Reading residents are being asked to donate travel-sized hygiene items at the Reading Public Library to stock a new Little Essentials Library cart for neighbors who struggle to afford basic supplies. Donations can be dropped in the lobby box through October 1, with items distributed from the Health Nook by late October. Town health officials emphasize that good hygiene protects both individual and community health.
• Samuel H. Williams Jr. Obituary (caledonianrecord.com) — A former Reading resident, Samuel H. Williams Jr., is remembered in an obituary noting he grew up in Reading before a Navy career and long professional life in New Hampshire. The tribute highlights his decades at Burndy Corporation, deep devotion to family, love of Falmouth and gardening, and reputation for integrity and warmth. Services will be private, with memorial donations suggested to Wren Hospice in South Carolina.
