Reading H.S. Student in the Running for Grand Prize in Hunt's Photo contest

Reading H.S. photo student Sarah Bond is among a group of 12 finalists in the first Hunt's Photo & Video's 'School Pride' photo contest.

(MELROSE, MA) – “Spirited” photographs by students from eight local communities will be on display on Friday, March 27, 2015, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, when New England’s leading digital imaging equipment retailer, Hunt’s Photo & Video, opens its first “School Pride” Photo Gallery Exhibit at its flagship store, 100 Main Street, Melrose. Twelve students from local communities, including, Lynnfield, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Peabody, Reading, Salem, and Wilmington, have been chosen as finalists in the month-long competition and are in the running to become the Grand Prize winner of a $500 Hunt’s Photo donation to their high school’s photography department, or the Second Prize winner of a $500 Mac Group Gift Card from Hunt’s towards the purchase of photographic equipment for their school’s photography department. Appetizers from Ocean Sushi in Melrose will be served at the opening.

Hunt’s Customer Service Manager Chris Guinto, who supervised the contest, explains that the winning photographs were judged on technical performance as well as content.

“The contest was restricted to high schools that have a photography department so the students would have an understanding of basic photographic standards and techniques,” Guinto says. “In addition, the judges looked for images that represented “school pride,” and rated the submissions on creativity, clarity and composition.” The submitted images were required to be in a high-resolution format, sized to 13”x9”, and including the camera specifications used for each photo.
