Reading Town Manager Bob LeLacheur has placed Police Chief Mark Segalla on administrative leave according to a release sent out on Christmas Eve.The two-sentence release has few details."On this past Saturday evening I placed Mark Segalla on administrative leave.At the same time I directed Deputy David Clark to assume all duties and responsibilities of the Police Chief's position, until further notice."Segalla has been Reading's Chief of Police since Jan. 1, 2016. Prior to that he was a 19-year veteran of the Reading police department.

The Hidden Parlor Society announces the anticipated August 2026 opening of The Hidden Parlor, a dedicated American Mahjong parlor created for open play, leagues, guided sessions, curated events, and connection around the table.
The Hidden Parlor will offer reserved tables, regular operating hours, concierge service, and thoughtful programming for players at a range of experience levels. A curated selection of Mahjong goods, gifts, and accessories will also be available.
&ldquo;American Mahjong has a way of bringing people together,&rdquo; said Heather Forrest Gagnon, Founding General Manager of The Hidden Parlor Society. &ldquo;The Hidden Parlor is being thoughtfully created as a place to gather, connect, and enjoy the game in a beautiful setting. We look forward to welcoming players from Andover and throughout New England.&rdquo;
The Hidden Parlor recognizes Mahjong&rsquo;s origins in China and the generations of players, including Jewish American communities, who helped shape American Mahjong as it is played today.
The Hidden Parlor will partner with local American Mahjong instructors to offer introductory sessions, guided play, leagues, and special programming.
Since opening its waitlist, The Hidden Parlor has attracted interest from players across Massachusetts and throughout New England.
Annual access is available through four tiers: South, West, North, and East, each reflecting a different level of engagement.
