Two Reading Public Schools Educators Awarded Fellowship

According to a press release, two Reading Public Schools educators were among the 24 teachers from across the state to be selected for Massachusetts Education Policy Fellowship Program.

The fellowship program, sponsored by the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy along with Northeastern University, "serves mid-career professionals, rapidly advancing in their careers, who seek to expand their networks and build their policy and leadership skills to move forward effective reform," according to the release.


Mary DeLai and Douglas Lyons of Reading Public Schools were selected and join a list of educators that spans from Boston to Western Massachusetts.

DeLai, Lyons, and the other 22 fellows will take part in a variety of workshops, visit the Massachusetts State House, and travel to Washington, D.C., to visit with policymakers and learn about the policy process, according to the press release.

"As Massachusetts’ preeminent voice in public education reform, our organization is well-suited to play a leading role in developing Massachusetts’ next generation of leaders in education," said Chad d’Entremont, Executive Director for the Rennie Center, in the press release. "We look forward to working with the incoming class of fellows, as well as partnering with other EPFP chapters, to build our connections to policy organizations around the country to advance effective education reform."
