Women’s League of Reading’s Holiday Homes Contest raises over $1500 for the Mission of Deeds

Annual Holiday Homes Contest Spread Cheer For A Good Cause

The Women’s League of Reading’s (WLR) Holiday Homes Decorating contest and
fundraiser at the end of 2025 helped the organization contribute over $1,500 to the local
non-profit, Mission of Deeds.

During the contest, Reading residents were invited to register and decorate the exterior
of their homes in their most creative and spirited holiday displays; community people
then drove by the homes and voted for their favorites. In addition, viewers were
encouraged to make a small donation to the Mission of Deeds, which was a key factor
in making the fundraiser such a success. 14 homes participated and three homes were
deemed winners, each receiving a gift card to a local business of their choice.

In addition to the charitable support of the community, business sponsors had a large
impact and provided a substantial boost to the event. The 2025 Holiday Homes contest
was sponsored in part by McKinnon’s Supermarkets of Wilmington, Sharon VanHorn, a
local Realtor®, The Goddard School of Reading, and iDeal Eyecare.
