British International School of Boston Welcomes New Students
The British International School of Boston welcomed more than 75 new students to its classrooms this week.
BOSTON- The new school year at the British International School of Boston got off to a strong start on Tuesday, as the community welcomed more than 75 new students to its Jamaica Plain classrooms.
The new students- who hail from around Boston and around the world- join a growing school community made up of more than 400 students.
“The excitement and exhilaration in our school was palpable,” Headmaster Paul Wiseman said of the first day. “Students were ready to make new friends and eager to get learning. Teachers were genuinely enthused and excited about the new challenges and opportunities of the year ahead. Smiling parents were evidently looking forward to being our partners in the education of their children. It was yet another reminder of why I love this profession.”

More than half of all new students come to BISB from other local schools, both public and private. The school also welcomed a large group of international students, from the United Kingdom, Spain, New Zealand, Shanghai, Kuwait and Dubai.
This year’s group of new students continues a trend of strong growth at BISB. Since 2010 the school has grown by approximately 50 percent.

This summer, the school continued its work to celebrate and strengthen its growing community, adopting a new school name.
After 13 years of educating as the British School of Boston, the school added “International” to its name in July, changing the school name to more aptly reflect its community of international learners and educators.
The British International School is a co-educational day school educating students from 18 months to 18 years. The student body represents more than 78 heritages and students speak more than 25 languages together with their families. Students are taught through a unique combination of international curricula, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
BISB is a member of Nord Anglia Education, a global network of 30 schools around the world, from Boston, New York and Houston to Shanghai, Qatar and Thailand.
