Owner Katerina Iliades, whose family has served the Boston Greek community for decades, says many of the foods enjoyed during Lent reflect long-standing Greek culinary traditions. “Lent is a forty-day season leading up to Easter when many families embrace traditional fasting foods rooted in the Mediterranean diet,” says Iliades. “The dishes enjoyed during this time — from beans and vegetables to seafood and olive oil — have been part of Greek culinary traditions for centuries.” During the Lenten season, many Christians avoid meat and dairy, turning instead to a vibrant variety of Mediterranean dishes that are naturally plant-based and deeply rooted in Greek culinary tradition. Luis Vargas, 17, was last seen in the Roslindale area on Thursday, July 16. Investigators believe the teen could be in Moreno Valley, California. Police describe Vargas as a black male, standing about 5-foot-11, and weighting roughly 180 pounds. Vargas was last spotted wearing a green shirt with red and black shorts. He was carrying a backpack at the time. Those with information regarding Vargas' whereabouts are urged to call 911 or contact Detective Hernandez, of West Roxbury at (617) 343-4595.
