Shopping and Giving go Hand-in-Hand in Jamaica Plain

Shop in Jamaica Plain Saturday, December 6th and help charities like The Home for Little Wanderers, the MSPCA, and Community Servings.

Jamaica Plain is embracing the spirit of giving this season. On Saturday December 6, 2014 Shop w/a Cause, a new initiative driven by JP merchants and businesses, will host a holiday shopping event with a charitable bent. Each of the four participating business will donate a portion of their sales for the day (up to 10%) to the local non-profit organization of their choice.

One of the event’s organizers, Steve Murakishi, owner of Fire Opal on Centre St. says “We’re excited about this new event, giving back has always been part of our holiday tradition and now we’re glad to include others in JP to make a bigger impact on the community.”

Shop w/a Cause will celebrate the great diversity that makes Jamaica Plain a true community. This year’s participating businesses are: Blue Frog Bakery (to benefit Community Servings), Fire Opal (to benefit Artists for Humanity), George’s Shoes (to benefit The Home for Little Wanderers), On Centre (to benefit MSPCA - Angell Memorial), Papercuts JP (to benefit Rosie’s Plaice), and Tres Gatos (to benefit 826 Boston).
