Wanted Roslindale Pharmacy Fatal Shooting Suspect Arrested
Akil Jackson, 41, has been arrested in connection with the July 29 shooting death of Alicia Heywood outside a pharmacy in Roslindale.

ROSLINDALE, MA — The man who police called "armed and dangerous" has been found and arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 42-year-old woman from Easton nearly two weeks ago, according to police.
Akil Jackson, 41, of Easton, was arrested Wednesday in West Bridgewater after police say they received a distress call around 1:30 p.m.
Jackson was wanted for murder and is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm in connection to the Roslindale daytime shooting incident that killed Alicia Heywood.

Police say they sent responding officers directly to the location of the caller because the call sounded frantic. Responding officers found and identified Jackson at the scene quickly, taking him into custody without incident.
According to police, Jackson targeted Heywood when he shot her around 1:15 p.m. on Birch Street, outside Sullivan's Pharmacy on July 29. Heywood later died at a local hospital from her injuries.

Upon his arrest, a loaded semi-automatic gun was taken from Jackson, and police say the gun had been stolen out of Georgia.
Police did not release any more information regarding the incident in West Bridgewater that provoked the distress call.
Jackson is now facing new charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and violation of a restraining order.
