The Massachusetts Department of Revenue seized the In a Pig’s Eye Restaurant for nonpayment of taxes. The longtime Salem restaurant is located at 148 Derby St. on the historical walking trail near the House of the Seven Gables.
Approximately $38,000 is owed by the business in a combination of state and local meals taxes and withholding, according to a state DOR official.
If no payment agreement is reached, the assets will be reviewed for auction.

The owners, Jenny and Jon Reardon, according to the restaurant’s website, purchased the business in 1986.
