Police: Copperhead Snake Removed From Garage; Uninvited Rottweiler Turns Up at Cookout; Small Stove Fire at The Tin Whistle

Sunday, May 24

At 1:20 a.m., motor vehicle accident on Lafayette Street. Man stated he was distracted for a quick second while driving on Lafayette Street. He struck a curb, and both airbags in the front seat deployed. One flat tire. Driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. Car towed, Citation issued for operating after suspended license.

At 3:08 a.m.; disturbance on Prince Street. Loud party in the basement.Party ended without incident.

At 12:26 p.m., suspicious persons on Ord Street in area of Butler Street. Two suspicious males on bicycles. Furcy L. Ferreras, 26, of Peabody, was arrested on a default warrant. He was subsequently charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, switchblade.

At 1:27 p.m., kite in wires on Fort Avenue. Kite hanging on wire by Fort Dustin. No apparent problem to wires or pedestrians.

At 2:52 p.m., animal complaint on Bradford Street. Parties were having a cookout when a loose dog arrived. The dog, a Rottweiler, was picked up by an officer. Perseus was reunited with his owner; the dog had slipped his collar and escaped his yard.

At 4:44 p.m., loud public announcement system on Essex Street. Officer responded to the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall, and observed a rap groups performing. One of the rap group members confirmed that the group did not have an entertainment license. Officer advised the group to turn off the PA system.

At 7:19 p.m., stove fire on Arthur Street. Salem Fire extinguisher kitchen fire.

At 10:27 p.m., report of a fight on Perkins Street.

At 11:13 p.m., erratic driver on Highland Avenue in the area of Wilson Street. Erratic operator driving on the wrong side of Highland Avenue. Andrew P. White, 28, of Lynn, was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs, operating after license revocation, operating to endanger and leaving the scene of an accident and marked lanes violation.

Monday, May 25

At 12:18 a.m., lost and found on Shore Avenue. American Airlines sent a bag to the wrong address. Officer contacted property owner by phone, and left voice message. Owner retrieved backpack.

At 10:08 a.m., commercial alarms on Jefferson Avenue. Fire department shut down gas main after a small stove fire inside the Tin Whistle.

At 10:22 a.m., car parked on the lawn on Memorial Drive. Vehicle moved.

At 1:13 p.m., unattended backpack on Lafayette Street.

At 3:08 p.m., animal control officer on Clark Avenue. The animal control officer removed a copperhead snake was removed from the garage.
