Salem Offers Free Mattress Recycling - For Now - Amid MA Landfill Ban
The city contracted for curbside pickup after the state law requiring the recycling of mattresses and box springs went into effect Tuesday.

SALEM, MA — Mattress and box spring pickup will remain free — for at least a bit longer — after in Salem a new state law went into effect this week banning the items from landfill disposal and requiring recycling.
The city contracted with Tough Stuff Recycling to provide free, ongoing mattress and box spring recycling.
"While there is currently no charge for this service for Salem residents, the city is evaluating fee options and this may change later in 2022," the city said.
