Salem Public Safety Date Set For Heritage Days
The public safety day, including a K9 demonstration, will be held on Salem Common on Aug. 2.

SALEM, MA — The Public Safety Day as part of the annual Salem Heritage Days celebration is set for Aug. 2 on Salem Common.
The event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. and will include police cruisers, fire apparatus, DPS vehicles, the Salem Police & Fire vs. Boys and Girls Club basketball game, a police K9 demonstration, a fire-safety presentation and a cookout.
Community partners will have outreach tables set up to provide information on services provided to the community.

The Heritage Days festival will run from Aug. 1 through Aug. 7 this year with a newly added Salem Jazz and Soul Festival planned for Salem Common on Aug. 6 from noon to 8 p.m.
This year's festival will also include "several events exclusively for older adults," including an ice cream social, a barbeque at Winter Island and a Masquerade Ball, as well as an all-ages ice cream tasting and movie in the Common on Aug. 3 and a family Bingo night at Charlotte Forten Park on Aug. 6.
