SALEM, MA — More than 40 Salem High seniors already have one college acceptance wrapped up and in their back pockets as part of Salem State University's SSU Applies to You early acceptance program.

Salem High and Salem State celebrated the 41 accepted students — several of whom have already committed to attend the school — during a ceremony at the Instructional Multimedia Center last week.

"I feel like it went well," SHS Early College Program manager Amie Capodanno said. "I definitely think for students interested in attending Salem State, there is that level of nervousness. This was their acceptance."

The Early College Program at SHS is a guided program for students entering their sophomore years to have a gradual immersive experience in a college environment. Students in the program can earn up to 30 college credits by graduation and are taught by SHS educators, SSU professors
and have full access to tutors during and after school in the IMC.

A similar ceremony was held at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School earlier this month.
