Salem Street Sweeping Begins Next Week
Salem will sweep the Point on March 22, entrance corridors on March 23, downtown on March 24 and remaining neighborhoods on April 5.
SALEM, MA — Seasonal street sweeping will require Salem residents who park on the street to move their cars beginning March 22 depending on where they live.
The city said the street sweeping of entrance corridors will run from March 23 to April 1 as the first of six sweeping weeks this year.
Residential sweeping will run from April 5 to April 30. Downtown sidewalks and streets will be swept every third Wednesday beginning on March 24.

There will be additional street sweeping on streets in the Point neighborhood on March 22 and then twice monthly from April through September. Residents on the posted streets may park free of charge in the South Harbor Parking Garage on sweeping days from 8 p.m. Sunday to 8:00 p.m. Monday, with proof of residency.
"I encourage everyone to get the word out to their neighbors to remind them when the street sweeper is coming, so they remember to move their cars," said Public Services Director David Knowlton. "The fewer cars on the street, the better we can clean. Our goal is to clean the streets, not to tow cars, so please park accordingly during scheduled street sweeping days."
