SALEM, MA —As the war in Ukraine heads toward the third month, groups and organizations throughout the North Shore have attempted to do their little part to raise money for the millions of refugees forced to flee their homes amid the Russian invasion.
For one Salem theater, however, a single effort has spurred a campaign that spread throughout the industry in the United States and Canada.
The March 13 screening of the Ukrainian film "The Guide" — as part of Cinema Salem's "Stand With Ukraine Through Film" campaign — has now spread to more than 600 theaters raising tens of thousands of dollars for Ukrainian relief.
