Sandy Will Not Affect Salem's Halloween Celebration

Festivities are scheduled to go on as usual.

The following is courtesy of Destination Salem.

Halloween night celebrations in Salem, Massachusetts, have not been affected by hurricane Sandy. The City was extremely fortunate to not have sustained major damage during the storm, and Halloween programs, including live music, fireworks, and thousands of costumed revelers, will happen as planned.  Attractions, museums, tours, shops, and restaurants will be open for "business as usual" on Halloween.

Those who will be celebrating Halloween in Salem are encouraged to enjoy the event by arriving early, adhering to local laws, and planning to depart after the fireworks at 10:15 PM.  The MBTA will offer expanded service and a special event ticket to help visitors get to and from Salem on Halloween.  Schedule information is available at MBTA.com/events.

The Salem Ferry service from Boston and Hingham will not be available on Halloween due to rough seas created by the hurricane.

Halloween programming will feature the Radio 92.9 Main Stage on Washington Street from 5:00 - 10:00 PM, Britannica performing on the Hawthorne Boulevard stage, and the Undercover Band on the Front Street stage. DJs will spin tunes on Salem Common and Derby Street stages, and bands will be playing on the Fountain Stage on Essex Street.  The Radio 92.9 Shock Top Beer Garden will be open on Federal Street at Washington Street from 5:00 PM - 9:30 PM.  Fireworks are anticipated at 10:15 PM, concluding another successful haunted Halloween season in Salem.

A flyer listing Halloween Rules and Events is available online. Information regarding Salem Haunted Happenings, including parking and alternate driving routes, is available at  HauntedHappenings.org.
