Sovereign Scandal at Covenant Life Church

Nathan Morales was found guilty on all five counts with a maximum sentence of 85 years. The following week in his second trial, Morales was found guilty on two counts for another 25 years. A dozen jurors sat through hours of heart-breaking witness testimony prior to convicting Morales of these crimes. Morales’ sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 14. He faces up to 85 years in prison.

During the trial Grant Layman, longtime Covenant Life Pastor and brother in law to C. J. Mahaney, President of Sovereign Grace Ministries, admitted that he knew about the child abuse allegations against Morales, but did nothing about it.

The wickedness of child sexual molestation by members of clergy is still being uncovered and brought to light by brave victims, many of whom are now coming of age and are able to speak for themselves.  For far too long this  iniquitous characteristic among clergy has been covered up and either moved from location to location or allowed to remain in place.  Victims are traumatized by evangelical and biblical abuse and often forced into forgiving their molesters.

I hope that the civil suit that was initially closed can now be re-opened and a judgement brought against this horrible group.  No amount of money in the world will ever bring back the lost childhood of the survivors, but perhaps with any monetary reward they receive a good therapist will help them to heal.
