Turiel Running For Fifth Term On Salem City Council

The Ward 5 City Councilor said he expects it to be his final term.

SALEM, MA -- Ward 5 City Councilor Josh Turiel said he plans to run for a fifth term on Saelm City Council in a Facebook post Wednesday. If elected, it would be Turiel's fifth -- and likely his last -- term.

"We'll see if I have an opponent this time around - the first two times I ran for reelection I was unopposed, but last time I had to face the head of my neighborhood association who was far better funded than I was," Turiel wrote. "Always be prepared to face the fight of your life when running for office, and never take anything for granted."

Last month, At-Large City Councilor Tom Furey said he would not run for reelection. Salem City Council is made up of four at-large councilors and one councilor from each of the seven wards.
