Pair Charged in Sharon Elder Abuse Case Ordered Held on Bail

Domingas Teixeira, 61, and Leonide Jean Paul Bien-Aime, 49, both of Brockton, appeared at Stoughton District Court on a summons.

SHARON, MA — Two Brockton residents accused of abusing a 93-year-old woman living in a retirement community were ordered held on bail Wednesday.

Domingas Teixeira, 61, and Leonide Jean Paul Bien-Aime, 49, both of Brockton, appeared at Stoughton District Court on a summons. They pleaded not guilty to assault and battery on a person over 60 years old. Both were ordered held on $1,000 cash bail. If they post bail, they are not allowed to be involved in any type of health care employment, according to the Sharon Police Department.

In March, a video emerged of two then-employees at Wingate at Sharon allegedly abusing a woman. Images given to Sharon Patch show staffers allegedly attacking the woman known as Dorothy, at one point putting a towel in her mouth.

After the arraignment, Bien-Aime’s attorney, Lewis Victor, told FOX25 that just because something is on the internet doesn't mean it's true. Teixeira’s attorney said in court that his client was moving the elderly woman from her bed to her wheelchair, stating that “different people have different perspectives” of the video.

Both are due back in court May 26, 2017
