SHARON, MA — The school district has hired an independent investigator following allegations that a former Sharon High School science teacher indecently assaulted a student. Bradley Lengas, 56, was charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 and accosting and annoying a person of the opposite sex.

The school committee has hired Sarah Worley to investigate the allegations against Lengas. By working with an independent investigator, School Committee chair Jonathan Hitter said the district can ensure the following goals:

  • Ensure the safety of our students
  • Protect the privacy of and show compassion for any
  • victims and/or witnesses
  • Treat our faculty and staff fairly
  • Be as transparent as possible with the community, while maintaining the school’s duty to preserve the safety of students, well-being of any victims, and privacy of all faculty and staff

"From Dr. Greer’s perspective as Superintendent of Sharon Public Schools and Jonathan Hitter’s perspective as chairman of the Sharon School Committee, we are deeply committed to Sharon Public Schools, its students, its alumni, its faculty and staff and its mission overall," Sharon Public Schools said in a statement. "A school should be a safe, welcoming and affirming place and we work very hard to ensure that it is."
