Here are 5 things you missed from the Board of Selectmen's meeting last night:
1. The voted to approve the transfer of a wine and malt beverage retail package goods license from Rumit, Inc., doing business as , Datta Desai, manager, to Kuma Ventures, Inc., doing business as Mickey's Mini mart, Kushal S. Patel, manager after a public hearing last night. The license will be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages during the hours: Mondays through Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 12 to 9 p.m.
2. The selectmen also approved a request from Jane O'Connor Lizotte, of 15 Colton Ln., to schedule a road race at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning this year, Nov. 24, 2011 to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts. The race will begin and end at the Sumner House, which now houses the Funeral Home.

3. The selectmen also reappointed Alfred C. Confalone, as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for a two-year term. They also reappointed Peter D. Collins and Robert D. Holland as associate members of the Zoning Board of Appeals for one year terms.
4. The selectmen also approved a request from the Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library to use the town common for the seventh season of free family concerts on Tuesday, July 19 and Thursday, Aug. 25, both at 6 p.m.

5. The selectmen went into executive session to discuss the health plans of retirees. The board voted to renew all the existing plans and cover ages with the exception of some changes that are required by law. This will result in a 7 percent increase for all plans for employees and non Medicare eligible retirees. The impact on the budget should result in a reduction of about $200,000, according to Town Manager Daniel Morgado.
The next Board of Selectmen's meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 18, at 7 p.m., at the town hall.
