Key to Awesomeness: Though it is the recession and magazines are closing shop across the country, you wouldn't think that is the case now that a group of middle school students could sell more than $34,000 in sales in a school fundraiser.

Due to their dedication to their school, many middle school students participated and sold hundreds of dollars worth of magazines with the incentive to win prizes and thanks to the support of the magazine fundraising company, 17 Oak Middle School students got to take a stretch Cadillac limousine to Red Robin for lunch. Top sellers from Sherwood Middle School will also take a limo ride to lunch on Friday.

"These students are hard workers and proud to be part of the community," said Oak Middle School Principal Christopher Starczewski. "The magazine company gave prizes to students if they sold one magazine subscription and the more they sold, the more they won."

The top seller at Oak Middle School was 13-year-old Emily Taylor. "I sold $525 worth of magazines," she said. "I sold it mostly to my family."

Danny Papazian expanded his customer base. "I sold it to family, but I also took it to church," said 13-year-old Papazian. "I sold $400 worth of subscriptions and I'm excited about the limo ride and lunch."

The limo and lunch was provided by the magazine subscription company. And all proceeds will go to the PTOs from the two middle schools.
