Shrewsbury Police Logged 4,200 Incidents In April, Down From 2025

Last month, Shrewsbury police made 24 arrests and responded to hundreds of 911 and medical calls.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury police responded to more than 4,200 incidents in April and made 24 arrests, according to statistics released by the department this week.

The Shrewsbury Police Department reported 4,224 total incidents during April 2026, along with 806 calls to 911 dispatchers and 832 motor vehicle stops. Officers also handled 260 medical calls, 147 suspicious person reports and 91 accidents or disabled vehicles during the month.

Police responded to 64 burglar alarm calls, conducted 52 investigations and performed 48 well-being checks. The department also logged 47 animal complaints, 30 disputes or disturbances and 24 larceny or shoplifting incidents.

Officers responded to 20 domestic disputes, served 16 arrest warrants and issued 16 criminal summonses. Other incidents included 11 threats or assaults, eight identity theft reports, one missing person report and one operating under the influence arrest involving alcohol or drugs.

Compared to April 2025, overall incidents and arrests declined slightly. Police recorded 4,436 incidents, 867 calls to 911 and 27 arrests during the same month last year. Criminal summonses, however, increased from 12 in April 2025 to 16 this year.

“Behind every number is a call for service, a community interaction, or a moment where someone needed help—and our officers were there to respond,” the Shrewsbury Police Department wrote in a statement Wednesday. “Thank you to our community for your continued support, awareness, and partnership in keeping Shrewsbury a safe place to live, work, and visit.”
