SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury police handled thousands of incidents in September, including 900 calls to 911.
The Shrewsbury Police Department recorded 4,316 total incidents during the month, resulting in 19 arrests and 12 criminal summonses, according to new stats released on Thursday.
Officers conducted 514 motor vehicle stops, issuing 41 civil citations, 179 written warnings and nine criminal citations. Police also reported two OUI cases involving alcohol or drugs.
Other activity included 273 medical calls, 112 suspicious person reports, 98 lake incidents, 71 accidents or disabled vehicles and 59 investigations.
Police responded to 54 burglar alarms, including one motor vehicle break-in and three residential or commercial break-ins. The department also recorded 46 disputes or disturbances, 48 well-being checks, 23 larcenies or shopliftings, 13 identity theft reports and eight threats or assaults.
Overall activity declined from August, when police recorded 4,644 incidents, 24 arrests and 626 motor vehicle stops, according to last month's stats. Lake incidents fell from 480 in August to 98 in September while calls to 911 increased from 874 to 900.
"Every number represents an opportunity for our officers to serve, respond, assist, and help keep our community safe," the department said.
Police thanked residents, businesses, dispatchers and community partners for their support, adding, "We serve better together."
