Cops: Intoxicated Man Bit Officer After Chase
A call to police about an erratic operator led to a chase that ended in Worcester with the assault of a Shrewsbury cop.

A Framingham man who led police on a chase into Worcester on Saturday allegedly bit the Shrewsbury officer who helped arrest him.
Jason M. Leonard, 30, of 89 Kendall St., Framingham, faces numerous charges in relation to the chase and alleged assault, which took place after midnight Saturday, April 21.
Leonard was arraigned Monday in Westborough District Court. His next scheduled appearance is May 23.

According to court records, Leonard bit Shrewsbury officer Chad Chysna during the course of his arrest, which took place in Worcester, where he allegedly led Shrewsbury police in a chase.
A caller reported an erratic operator on Rte. 9 at 12:21 a.m. Saturday, according to police records. The vehicle, a 2006 Volkswagen Passat, was reportedly swerving and continued driving after hitting a jersey barrier. Police followed the Volkswagen into Worcester, where it crashed near 162 Prescott St.

In records filed at Westborough District Court, police said Leonard attempted to run over at least one Worcester police officer. He was allegedly glassy-eyed, and there was evidence of drug use in his car, police said.
He was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault with a dangerous weapon, operating under the influence of alcohol, second offense, operating under the influence of drugs, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, speeding and failing to stop for police.
