Women in Science & Math Conference for Middle School Girls

The Sixth Annual Women in Science & Math Conference will be held at the Melican Middle School (145 Lincoln St., Northborough) on Saturday, March 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Northboro Junior Woman’s Club hosts this annual conference to give middle school girls the opportunity to explore careers in science and math.  After an opening presentation, the girls will be able to attend four different 35-minute interactive, hands-on career workshops.

Eleven presenters will represent fields such as forensic chemistry, meteorology, emergency medicine, robotics, textile engineering and veterinary medicine among others.  The presenters will explain what they do in their respective occupations, share different tips on courses of study and ways to train for their professions, and provide hands-on exploration and activities.

A luncheon will follow the workshops and offer an opportunity for the students and presenters to continue discussions in a more informal setting. The conference will conclude with a group activity and a closing speaker.

The conference is free and open to the first 110 girls who register by Saturday, March 19. Registration forms can be found on line at www.northborojuniors.org or on the Northborough Town Hall bulletin board.
