Firefighter Earns Top Honor
Shrewsbury Firefighter Shaun Weigold received the Patriot Ribbon Award.

Shrewsbury Firefighter Shaun Weigold was awarded the Patriot Ribbon Award from Massachusetts Fire District 14. The award is a special recognition honoring firefighters who have served the country overseas in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
The award banquet was held in Natick at the Natick V.F.W. Post 1274. Fire District 14 Chairman Chief John Blood of the Hudson Fire Department and State Fire Marshall Stephen D. Coan presented Shaun and twenty-two (22) other veterans from local fire departments with their Patriot Ribbon Awards.
Other honoree's from the following communities were also recognized; Framingham, Holliston, Hudson, Marlborough, Maynard, Milford, Stow and Wayland. Past recipients from Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Milford, Natick and Stow were also recognized.

Prior to joining the , Firefighter Weigold served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer in Iraq. As a member of the military Shaun was awarded numerous meritorious service medals, badges, commendations and service ribbons. Including the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal just to name a few.
In March of 2012, Firefighter Weigold was honorably discharged from reserve duty status completing his military service commitment. Weigold is a five-year veteran of the Shrewsbury Fire Department and resides in Shrewsbury with his wife Elise and children Ava and Calvin. We thank him for his service to our Nation and continued service to our community.
