In Court: Sex-Trafficking, OUI Cases Move Forward

Allen W. LaForte, 56, of 53 Waterville St., North Grafton, was arrested by Grafton police on Sept. 23 and charged with operating under the influence of liquor (third offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, speeding and a marked lanes violation. The arresting officer reported clocking LaForte at driving 65 in a 35 mph zone and that LaForte initially refused to stop. LaForte's case was continued to Nov. 1 for a pretrial hearing. 

Casey Crossman, 24, of 47 Easton Dr., Hudson, was arrested by State Police in Northborough on Monday on charges of operating with a suspended license, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of drugs and possession of a Class A substance. Crossman, who was arrested at 1:59 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-290 in Northborough, was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be in court again on Nov. 15 for a pretrial hearing. 

Gabrielle M. Lash, 20, of 1173 Broadway, Hanover, was summonsed by Westborough police on Sept. 22 and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and a marked lanes violation. Her case was continued to Nov. 15. 

A judge dismissed a drug distribution charge against Edward Brouillette, 20, of 85 Commons Dr., Apt. 101, Shrewsbury. A second charge, for possession of a class D substance, was reduced to a decriminalized charge and he was ordered to pay a $100 fine. Brouillette was originally summonsed on the charges by Shrewsbury police in April. 

Sex-trafficking charges against a Marlborough man who allegedly forced his then-pregnant girlfriend and another woman to perform sex acts for money at a Shrewsbury motel were dismissed because the case is progressing to a higher court. Court records indicate the charges of trafficking persons for sexual servitude and deriving support from the earnings of a prostitute against Anthony O. Maness, 38, of 36 Cross St. Marlborough, were dismissed due to an imminent indictment in Superior Court. The charges stem from an investigation by State Police this summer at the Days Inn in Shrewsbury.
