Elsie Kaye Artisan Gifts & Flamework Studio

Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

Nector Nivar, 28, with a last known address of 47 Edgewater Ave., Shrewsbury, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court to several charges relating to an assault on his then-girlfriend, which took place in front of their children. . He was arrested in March of 2011 and he also threatened to kill her, according to the charges. The assaults took place in front of two small children, according to court testimony. Nivar pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery and one count of threatening to commit a crime. He had no prior agreement with prosecutors, according to testimony in court. Superior Judge Janet Kenton-Walker accepted his guilty pleas and sentenced Nivar to between three and five years in state prison, followed by three years of probation. Once he is released, he will have to comply with several stipulations, including no direct contact with the victim.
