Paton School Playground More Than Halfway to Fundraising Goal

What was supposed to be a three-year project, is ahead of schedule.

Principal Jayne Wilkin thanked the volunteers at Paton School for their work and donations towards the Paton Playground Project.

"Fundraising is more than halfway, but still requires your help," said Wilkin in a letter to parents. "We’d love to have the beginnings of a playground in place in the spring 0f 2012."

The playground, which was removed due to safety concerns last school year, needs to be replaced and the Paton School Parent Teacher Organization immediately launched a fundraising project.

The group has raised $41,000 to date, which is closer to the goal than organizers expected to be as they expected the project to take up to three years.

"We determined that given the large scope of this project and amount of funding required the Paton Playground Rebuild would inevitably become a three-year project. I am very happy to report due to the hard work of many, we are tracking slightly ahead of schedule," said Lorraine Daignault, PTO President. "We have raised $41,000 in net contributions, which represents 68% of our total fundraising goal of $60,000."
