Police Log: Scooter Towed; Ex-Wife Causes Trouble

The following information was supplied by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction. All arrests are reported.

Saturday, Sept. 1

11:43 a.m.: A caller from the area of 38 Harrington Farms reported that at about 9 a.m., a man in his 50s or 60s, with salt and pepper hair, drove by, stopped, and looked at a female. Police spoke with the female.

1:48 p.m.: A vehicle hit a stop sign in the area of 975 Main St. The was notified.

3:23 p.m.: Police pulled over a vehicle on Route 20 by Purinton Street. Anthony V. Jordan, 52, of 149 S. Barrington Ave., Los Angeles, was arrested and charged on a warrant.

3:54 p.m.: Police towed an unregistered scooter on Route 9 by Lake Street and will be seeking a summons to charge its owner in court.

4:04 p.m.: Police were doing radar enforcement on Route 20 and pulled over seven vehicles over the next hour.

5:22 p.m.: A past breaking and entering was reported at 132 Crescent St.

5:23 p.m.: A caller from the area of 11 Flagg Rd. reported hearing four loud bangs in the area. Police spoke to several onlookers who said three males on a boat had lit off fireworks. The males were gone upon police arrival.

6:11 p.m.: A Florence Street resident reported his ex-wife was causing trouble with him and his current girlfriend. Police responded and spoke to the parties.

Sunday, Sept. 2

12:03 a.m.: A 911 caller said there was an unwanted female who was becoming physically combative at 845 Hartford Turnpike. Police responded and took a Southbridge woman into protective custody.

6:52 a.m.: A caller advised police of a man sleeping in one of the junk cars at 161 Boston Tpke. Police responded and moved along the man.

7:19 a.m.: A police officer was flagged down on Harrington Avenue and given a wallet that was found in the area.

9:45 a.m.: A caller from Melvin Avenue reported a restraining order violation (phone call). The restraining order was out of Spencer. Police will be seeking a summons to charge the person on a violation.

10:31 a.m.: A Mercedes car key was found in the area of 785 Main St. It was turned in to police.

11:58 a.m.: Crosswalk lights at 70 Boston Tpke. were reportedly not working. MassHighway was notified.

1:11 p.m.: A person in the lot at 571 Boston Tpke. called police because a dog was left in a car with the windows rolled up. Police responded; the dog was fine. The owner was not able to be located.

3:15 p.m.: Paramedics took to the hospital a woman who was circling the 539 Boston Tpke. parking lot in her car, crying uncontrollably.

4:42 p.m.: A small brush fire was reported and extinguished at 584 Lake St.

5:31 p.m.: A home on Veranda Avenue was broken into through a window; jewelry was reported stolen. Police took a report.

5:56 p.m.: Illegal dumping was reported on Whippoorwill Drive.

9:10 p.m.: A caller reported hearing 12 shots and yelling in the Sandpiper Drive area; it was confirmed as fireworks.
