Police Log: Sick Animals, Scarecrow in Road

Monday, Sept. 3

3:22 a.m.: Police saw a man riding his bike around Maple Avenue. He was spoken to and sent on his way.

4:04 a.m.: A caller reported a party on Sterling Street was playing loud music. Police responded; the subject returned inside for the night.

9:10 a.m.: A possibly sick-looking fox was seen in the area of Davis Way. The information was logged and forwarded to Animal Control.

2:39 p.m.: Police received the report of a baby fox or coyote that was possibly sick, in the area of Maple Avenue. The information was logged and forwarded to Animal Control.

3:07 p.m.: A caller reported a stranded boat on Lake Quinsigamond by the inlet near Route 20. The operator appeared unable to start the motor. A passer-by helped tow the boat ashore.

7:39 p.m.: A caller reported a fight at 424 Hartford Tpke. Police and paramedics responded. William R. Hamilton, 42, of 170 Massachusetts Ave., Lunenburg, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. 

8:27 p.m.: A caller reported a scarecrow in the middle of Old Mill Road and Main Street. Police responded and removed the scarecrow.

9:48 p.m.: A caller from at 197 Boston Tpke. reported two individuals fraudulently returned stolen merchandise. The man was the primary suspect; the female with him was not involved. Police responded. James F. Boucher, 34, of 6 Loxwood St., Worcester, was arrested and charged with shoplifting by asportation and possession of a Class D substance, second offense.
