Police Log: Teens Try to Blind Drivers, Water Balloons Thrown From Cars

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, Sept. 16

12:54 p.m.: An officer preserved the peace at a home on Daniel Road while a man retrieved his property.

2:47 p.m.: A resident of South Quinsigamond reported solicitors tried to sell him a picture of his own house. Police responded and could not find the solicitors.

3:02 p.m.: Three to four bags of soda cans were stolen from Horton's Market, 117 Clinton St.

5 p.m.: A bag of clothes was removed from the travel lane on Boston Turnpike.

5:42 p.m.: A caller reported two young teens were holding up a mirror to blind drivers on Arbor Drive. Police responded and the teens were gone.

5:48 p.m.: A caller reported two teen males were on her doorstep on Lake Street, tying a string across the steps. The teens were gone upon police arrival.

6:43 p.m.: Police received two calls about a vulture in the area of Prospect Street and Fox Hill Road. The bird was found eating in the area.

7:01 p.m.: A caller reported being hit by water thrown from a black Audi in the area of 785 Main St. Police responded. Victims in the area confirmed there was a car with people throwing water balloons.

10:59 p.m.: A neighbor on Commons Drive reported hearing yelling inside a nearby apartment. Police found there was no dispute and it was simply residents who were talking very loud.

Monday, Sept. 17

2:01 a.m.: A caller reported he lost his red duffel bag containing a laptop computer, while traveling on Route 20.

11:46 a.m.: Police received multiple calls about a woman who was attempting to jump off the bridge on Boston Turnpike. A caller advised police the woman got into a motor vehicle and was leaving. Police stopped the car just over the bridge and spoke to the woman. A report was filed.

12:32 p.m.: A caller from Ireta Road reported a suspicious blue van with out of state plates was parked, and had a male inside. Police responded and found the man was part of the Asian Beetle investigation team.

2:55 p.m.: A caller from Main Street and North Quinsigamond reported that bushes were smoking and on fire at the intersection. The Fire Department responded. Landscapers were smoking out a bees' nest.

3:57 p.m.: Animal Control responded to 707 South St. for the report of three dogs barking outside. No one was home. The officer left a tag on the door, asking the homeowner to call police.

4:57 p.m.: Animal Control investigated a complaint about barking dogs at 4 Hillside Ln. No one was home and the complaint was unfounded.

11:47 p.m.: Police went to the old school house at 35 Harrington Ave.; it appeared a homeless person was staying inside. Access appeared to be gained through an open window. Police noted a chained-up mountain bike had been left outside of the location. Police made a log entry and said they would be making periodic checks.
