Register for Full-Day Kindergarten

Incoming students must be registered to be part of the full-day kindergarten lottery.

has sent letters home to incoming kindergarteners, so they can fill out a survey that would determine the number of kindergarten classes needed for the upcoming school year.

Parent surveys are due on Friday, Dec. 23 by 4:30 p.m.

Currently there are eight class sections of full-day kindergarten: six at and two at , and they anticipate maintaining at least this number of full day sections next year.

Students living in the Coolidge School attendance zone would be eligible through a lottery for the two sections of full day located there, and students living in the Floral Street School, Paton School and Spring Street School attendance zones would be eligible through a separate lottery for the full day sections located at Beal Early Childhood Center.

Families should not assume that their child will be placed at a particular school or be assigned to a particular morning or afternoon session, or base their decision regarding whether to apply for the full day lottery on such assumptions.

In all cases of school and classroom assignment, as well as morning or afternoon half day session assignments, the school department will make the final decision regarding placement based on enrollment and the lottery for the full day program.

The district offers limited seats in the full-day program. Seats for the full-day program, other that those allotted to qualifying students with disabilities, are allocated through a lottery, to be televised on Jan. 6 at 1:15 p.m., with a snow date of Jan. 13, at 1:15 p.m.

The tuition is currently $2,800.00 annually, with a possible increase for next year. Tuition assistance for full-day kindergarten students is available to income eligible families. If you are undecided about full-day kindergarten, the school department strongly suggest that you enter your child’s name into the lottery, and if your child is selected, you may decline the full-day program at that time.
