Submitted by the office of State Rep. Matt Beaton
State Rep. Matt Beaton, R-Shrewsbury, is pleased to announce his appointment to the committees on which he will serve during the 188th Legislative Session. For the 2013-2014 Session, Beaton has been assigned to the House Committee
on Ways and Means, Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and
Agriculture, and House Committee on Ethics.
"I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve on the Ways and Means Committee," said Beaton, "where I will have the chance to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to chart a course that is fiscally responsible for all the taxpayers in the Commonwealth."
“Furthermore, I’m looking forward to continuing my work on the Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Committee where I can lend my background and perspective as an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. As a new member of the Ethics Committee, I vow to make sure that we hold ourselves in the House of Representatives to a higher standard. I am extremely excited to serve on all three committees where I hope to continue to be an advocate for fiscal restraint, government accountability and for the removal of roadblocks created by our government that adversely affect economic prosperity, municipal efficiency and individual freedoms."
Beaton, a Republican from Shrewsbury who represents the 11th Worcester District, is also co-owner of Beaton Kane Construction, which specializes in green building and residential energy efficiency solutions. He and his wife, Laura, have two children: Samuel (22 months) and Lillian (4 months).
