Elsie Kaye Artisan Gifts & Flamework Studio

Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

The Board of Selectmen will be meeting tonight at 7 p.m. to discuss the parking ban for a portion of Plainfield Avenue near Route 9. Residents have expressed concerns because of the visibility and were asking selectmen to ban parking at the north end of the street. Selectmen have discussed the matter with town officials and are expected to approve the parking ban. In other business, the selectmen will be discussing the cable franchise amendment with Tom Josie. They will also be voting on liquor licenses for various events in town and looking to re-appoint a member of the Registrar of Voters. The selectmen are also expected to go into executive session after the business portion of the meeting concludes to discuss collective bargaining, pending litigation and value of real property.
