Shrewsbury Special Town Meeting Approves All 10 Warrant Articles
Among the approved articles was a transfer of $1.9 million to address water contamination in town.
SHREWSBURY, MA β Shrewsbury's Special Town Meeting on Monday night approved all ten warrant articles. The articles varied from transferring millions of dollars to deal with water contamination to amending zoning bylaws.
Possibly the biggest ticket article was the transfer of money for water contamination. Town Meeting members approved a transfer of $1.9 million to help address water contamination. Most of the money transferred into the town's water account will be used to fund unidirectional flushing of the water mains and pipes.
During the Special Town Meeting, Jeffrey Howland, director of the Department of Public Works, announced that the new biological water treatment plant is filtering out manganese. The $11.5 million treatment plant was introduced last year.
