Tiffani Grillo carries the torch

Shrewsbury senior leads girls' basketball squad into postseason.

The girls’ basketball team enters the postseason with visions of greatness floating around in its head.

The Colonials earned the top-seed in the Division 1 Central Massachusetts girls’ basketball tournament, finishing with a 17-3 overall record. The success of the Colonials this year has been in large part to its four seniors.

Captains Tiffani Grillo and Patrice Ermilio, along with team mates Katie Forts and Rachel Pineda have set the tone all year long and made sure that the road to the Central Mass. Finals goes through Shrewsbury.

Grillo has been a member of the varsity squad for her entire four-year high school career and was voted a captain by her teammates this season.

What better way to cap off her high school career than with a Central Mass. Division 1 title. Grillo and company took that opportunity on Friday night when the Colonials beat Doherty to advance to the next game on Tuesday against Holy Name.

The Shrewsbury senior hasn’t made up her mind where she wants to go to school next year but plans to major in psychology and elementary education.
