Shrewsbury residents have given more than $54,000 to the presidential candidates.

This election cycle, Shrewsbury residents are giving contributions to both President Barack Obama and his Republican opponent Mitt Romney.
According to Federal Election Commission records, Shrewsbury residents have made donations totaling more than $54,000 to the presidential campaign.
Of those, $29,798 were to Obama ranging from $5 to $1,500. The other $24,925, ranging $8 to $2,500, was contributed to the Romney campaign.

Donations to Obama included more than $300 from a retired guidance counselor, $2,000 from a business owner, $350 from a Tufts professor, and more than $1,000 from a Clark University professor.
Romney's supporters included $750 from a COO, more than $2,000 from a trucking company, $2,500 from the chairman of an electrical company, $500 from an orthodontist, more than $300 from a retiree, and more than $2,500 from Polito Development.
