Why Your Water May Look A Little Yucky In Shrewsbury
If your water is discolored, this is why.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Water customers toward the center of town may temporarily experience discolored water as a result of a hydrant flow test on West Main Street and repair work being conducted on Boston Turnpike, said town officials.
Notification was given by a Code Red message to the lower section of Main Street and associated adjacent and side streets. However some areas beyond the anticipated section are experiencing discolored water, said the announcement.
If you've got discolored water, run your water lines on cold to clear out any sediment. It is recommend that this be done from the closest cold water tap to where your water service enters your home. The discoloration needs to work through the system to clear, which may take some time as more people use the water. Opening up additional hydrants may add to the problem, as it stirs up additional turbidity.
