2 Somerville Restaurants Named To Eater's 'Essential' List
Eater's list of 38 "essential" restaurants in New England highlights two right in your backyard.

SOMERVILLE, MA – As far as foodie culture goes, Somerville's got the goods. The city's restaurant scene is among the best in greater Boston and continually pops up on "best of" lists in Massachusetts and nationwide. Well it's time to add another trophy to the (probably crowded) mantelpiece.
Eater released its list of New England's 38 Essential Restaurants – we're talking Maine down to Connecticut – and two Somerville restaurants made the cut.
La Brasa, located at 124 Broadway, was hailed for head chef Daniel Bojorquez's "gutsy, vibrant, refined cooking." Eater highlighted the rice dishes, with a special emphasis on the Mexican fried rice, Chinese fried rice and Spanish paella, as well as wood fire-roasted chicken and bread options.

Eater also raved about Sarma, located at 249 Pearl Street, and chef Cassie Piuma's seasonal recipes that add her personal touch to Turkish and Middle Eastern dishes.
"She might sprinkle peanut dukkah on squid, reimagine dolmas using hollowed-out cucumbers rather than grape leaves, and zap spanakopita with za’atar, olives, and pickled hot peppers," Eater wrote.
