32-Vendor Market Planned for Somerville's Union Square
Bow Market would bring dining, entertainment and retail options to a former storage building in Union Square.

SOMERVILLE, MA – More than two dozen new businesses are planned for a Union Square development, and some could open by the end of the year, according to Boston Magazine. This week, the publication profiled Bow Market developers Matthew Boyes-Watson and Zach Baum, two millennials looking to transform an old storage building in Union Square.
The undertaking is ambitious, no doubt, but the wind appears to be at Boyes-Watson and Baum's backs. Boston Magazine reports the space can hold 32 storefronts, mainly housing vendors signed to short-term leases. In addition to the revolving door of options, a theater, brewery and "one or two" brick-and-mortar businesses are planned for Bow Market.
The City of Somerville supports the vision, as well. Planning Director George Proakis told the Boston Globe last fall the proposal is a "creative, adaptive use" of the space and has Mayor Joseph Curtatone in its corner.
