4 Ward 6 Aldermen Candidates to Face Off in Preliminary Election

The Sept. 17 ballot will determine the 2 candidates who will run to fill the seat being vacated by Rebekah Gewirtz.

The race to succeed Somerville Ward 6 Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz will have a preliminary election in September to narrow the candidate field, according to a Wicked Local report.

  • Charles Chisholm, a former alderman
  • Lance Davis, one of the founders of Progressive Together for Somerville
  • David Lieberman, a local attorney
  • Elizabeth Weinbloom, a freelance writer

In the preliminary election, Ward 6 voters will choose the two candidates who will run in the Nov. 3 general election.

Gewirtz, who has been on maternity leave since the fall, announced in May that she would not be seeking re-election to the office she has held for almost a decade.
