One firefighter was also taken to the hospital.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Six residents are displaced and one firefighter was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out at a three-story, mixed-use building Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze at 162 Broadway shortly before 3 a.m. to find heavy smoke and flames emanating from a window on the second floor. The Somerville Fire Department told Patch that the flames were contained to that unit, however other areas of the property sustained damage from smoke and water.
Businesses that are headquartered at the building include Michette Bakery, Creation Meat Market, Marlon’s Barbers, and a DHL store. The DHL location reportedly sustained the most damage from the extinguishing effort.
