The pools opened less than one week ago for the summer season.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Residents now have several options to cool off, as the city's public pools and splash pads opened for the summer season.

The City of Somerville announced that Dilboy Pool and the Latta Brothers Memorial Pool at Foss Park opened on Saturday, June 20, while the Ginny Smithers Pool opened two days later. The city also reported that nearly all municipal splash pads are now operating for the season.

Dilboy Pool is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and offers free admission. Lap swim hours are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m. The Latta Brothers Memorial Pool, a state-owned facility operated by the Commonwealth, is also open and free for Massachusetts residents.

The Ginny Smithers Pool is open for the season as well. Memberships and day passes are available, with fees varying based on residency and swim type.

In addition to the pools, all city splash pads are open with the exception of the splash pad at Lincoln Park, which remains closed for maintenance. Splash pads operate daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on timed cycles that pause for 20 minutes between sessions.

Residents can view a map of splash pad and water fountain locations, along with pool schedules and updates online. City officials also reminded residents to take precautions during hot weather, including drinking water, wearing sunscreen, seeking shade or air conditioning, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day.
